PARTNER
In 2023, Karim rejoined the firm as a senior member of the maritime department, bringing with him a wealth of regional knowledge and a proven track record of advising clients within the shipping and maritime sectors across multiple jurisdictions.
Karim Marouny began his career with the firm in 2008 as a legal correspondent for various Protection and Indemnity (P&I) clubs, following his graduation from the Faculty of Law at the University of Alexandria in 2006. In this role, he developed substantial expertise in handling a wide range of maritime matters, including cargo claims, charter party and bill of lading disputes, ship arrests, collisions, groundings, and pollution incidents.
His practice also extended to customs-related claims and container disputes, representing both terminals and shipping interests. Over time, Karim broadened his legal scope to include inland transportation matters, aviation claims, insurance disputes, and multimodal transport cases.
In 2016, Karim expanded his professional experience by relocating to the Arabian Gulf, where he practiced in both Kuwait, Oman and the United Arab Emirates. This regional exposure strengthened his understanding of international maritime frameworks and enhanced his ability to address cross-border legal issues effectively.
